Sept. 16 2013 – For Immediate Release

On Saturday Sept. 14, 2013, the Campus Safety Services received a report of a stolen back pack from the Oasis restaurant located in the Residence Common’s building. It was reported that the victim had left their backpack unattended for approximately 25 minutes.

Through the course of their investigation, Campus Safety officers were able to identify two suspects who were responsible for the theft. Officers attended the on-campus residence of both suspects and were able to recover the stolen backpack as well as its contents. The backpack was returned shortly after to the owner.

A report has been submitted to the Ottawa Police Service as well as the Department of Housing.

The Campus Safety Services would like to remind the Carleton community that the best way to protect yourself from becoming the victim of a theft is to never leave your property unattended.

To date, this academic year, Campus safety has received three theft reports of unattended property.
