(Ottawa) – Between January 11, 2018 and February 9, 2018 several thefts have occurred in local universities, where higher end laptops have been taken.

The thefts mostly occurred in study areas and targeted students that had left the premises for a few minutes (facilities), were distracted (on the phone) or sleeping.

The Central Criminal Investigation Unit has requested an arrest warrant for the arrest of Marcus MATAMBA, a 19 year-old male from the Gatineau/Ottawa area. He is charged with:

*       Theft (under $5000), 6 counts

*       Breach of probation, 6 counts

MATAMBA is about 175 cm (5′ 9″) and weighs approximately 56 kg (123 lbs.)

“Unattended valuables, for any length of time, are at risk of being taken,” said lead investigator Det. Hull.
