Student Safety Patrollers Job Description

Program Overview

The Student Safety Patrol Program was launched by the Campus Safety Services in September 1998. Applicants for Student Safety Patrol positions must be registered in the second or subsequent year(s) of their degree programs at Carleton University, with preference given to those students who are registered in BA Law or Criminology programs.

Student Safety Patrollers augment the full-time Patrol Services staff by performing various light security duties (non-police functions) around the Carleton University campus.

Student Safety Patrol positions are part-time paid positions. Students are scheduled on the basis of two or three, four -six hour shifts per week. There are Student Safety Patrollers working seven days a week, throughout the academic year (September to April). Additional shifts during weekdays and weekends may be scheduled, from time-to-time, to assist the Campus Safety Services with operational commitments. Student Safety Patrol shifts are reduced during the exam periods.
