Safety and Emergency Preparedness Assessments (SEPA)
The Purpose of these Assessments
SEPA assessments provide information to community members about personal safety programs, emergency procedures, and best practices. In addition, workspaces are reviewed using crime prevention through environmental design principles. The goal is to enhance safety for everyone within their workspace on campus.
Assessments include the following:
- Situational Security
- Example: placement of furniture, ensuring all lights are functioning, buddy systems for working outside regular office hours
- Physical Security
- Example: CCTV cameras, Card Access, Panic Buttons
- Emergency Preparedness
- Example: designating a tornado safe area, developing checklists, encouraging safety talks in meetings
