Overview
Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Associate Vice-President, Student Affairs and Student Life to outstanding undergraduate students who are or have been a Convention Refugee or a person in need of protection and are enrolled in any program of study at Carleton University. Recipients must demonstrate financial need. Preference will be for students who identify as women. Application is required. Endowed in 2022 by the Heads of Mission Spouses Association and the Canadian Federation for University Women-Ottawa.

Selection Process
One recipient of this award will be selected by a selection committee* with membership as indicated below. The scholarship consists of an award of $2,000, to be applied to the recipient’s student account and to be recognized as an award recipient at the SOAR Student Leadership Conference.
To qualify for this award, students must be a current full or part-time undergraduate students and must:
- Demonstrate a strong academic background with a minimum average of 80% (CGPA 10.0);
- Demonstrate financial need;
- Hold current or previous status as a Convention Refugee or a person in need of protection, within the meaning of subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and by the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) or the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
