What is the Community Partnership Project (CPP)?
The Community Partnership Project is a project-based experiential learning program that connects Carleton students with community organizations (charities, non-profits, and social service organizations) in Canada. Following four months (October 2021 to January 2022) of self-paced modules on community-engaged learning and project management, students will spend their winter reading week (February 2022) remotely supporting community organizations with the research, planning, and execution of community-identified projects.
Some examples of projects students may work on include:
- Developing a social media and marketing strategy
- Creating a remote volunteer coordination strategy
- Community-based research on social justice topics (ex. food insecurity, homelessness, accessibility)
By supporting the work of these organizations, students gain practical employment skills and identify real-world connections to their studies.
Participate in the Community Partnership Project (Students)
The CPP has limited capacity. Students who are interested in participating must complete an application form by September 30th, 2021. Applications are now closed for 2021/2022. Questions can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Charities, non-profits, and social service organizations interested in partnering must complete a partner request form by September 28th, 2021. Questions can be directed to email@example.com.
Students looking for volunteer more outside of Carleton can find one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities in the greater Ottawa region through the Volunteer Board. Simply log in to Carleton Central, visit the MyCareer portal, and click “Volunteer Jobs”.
Charities, non-profits, and social service organizations seeking student support beyond the Community Partnership Project can post volunteer opportunities on the Volunteer Board. Learn more about posting to the Volunteer Board at the link below.
