Kirsten Williams, third year B.PAPM student, is in Ecuador until April on a study abroad program. As part of her studies and as director of project management for Recrear, an international youth organization devoted to social entrepreneurship, Kirsten is spearheading a project titled “100 Voices,” which will document the involvement of young Afro-Ecuadorians in community development in six regions of Esmeraldas province.
Recrear was launched as an international organization in August 2010 at the Recrear.beta conference in Berlin. Its 2011 conference was held in Ottawa. Kirsten will be organizing a follow up workshop for the youth leaders of each community in Esmeraldas province and is helping to plan the next annual conference for Recrear, to be held in Ecuador.
