Poll Everywhere

You are only required to create an account if your professor uses graded Poll Everywhere activities or uses Poll Everywhere to take attendance. You do not need an account otherwise.  

If your professor has graded activities, and you have never used Poll Everywhere, you will receive an email with a registration link from Poll Everywhere with an invitation to create an account. Use your @cmail.carleton.ca email address to create your account.  

The email on your Poll Everywhere account should be the same email used to access your Brightspace account. 

Yes, Poll Everywhere is integrated with Brightspace. However, you do not need to be in Brightspace to participate in Poll Everywhere activities that are not tracked or graded.  Your instructor will share the link to the activities in class or place them in Brightspace, and you can participate through your phone or browser.

Some instructors will put a link to the Poll Everywhere activities on the course page. You can click on the link to participate in the activity. 

Some instructors will embed the poll everywhere activity into a module in your course on Brightspace. In those cases, you can participate directly from the course module in Brightspace. Make sure to login to your Poll Everywhere account (even on a different browser tab) before you participate in the activities.  

When you respond to polls using your cellphone by text, there may be slight delays with your responses being registered. Even though your responses have not yet registered, they will be visible and counted so long as you use the correct instructor activity page and have logged in Poll Everywhere with your @cmail.carleton.ca email address.

When you text to the instructor’s Poll Everywhere account, you should get a text message confirming that you are in the correct presenter’s account. If you do not receive that confirmation in response to your first text message, then try texting to the number (747) 444-3548 or 37607 instead of 22333.

Make sure you are logged in with your @cmail.carleton.ca email address when participating in activities. Your responses will be recorded to your account. And you can see them on the Responses tab on the left panel in your Poll Everywhere account.

If responding via text, make sure your cell phone number is registered on your Poll Everywhere account.

Your instructor will add the grades to your grade book in Brightspace.

If some of your classmates see their grades and you don’t see yours, speak to the instructor. They will be able to verify and update your grades for activities you participated in.

Make sure you are always logged in Poll Everywhere with your @cmail.carleton.ca when you participate. Check your Response history in Poll Everywhere to make sure you have responded to the polls.
