Surveys allow your instructor to gather information and feedback in a course. Survey questions are ungraded and can be anonymous or tracked. If the survey responses are anonymous, the survey will notify you at the start of the survey. Otherwise, survey responses are tracked by default.  Survey data may be used by your instructor for a variety of purposes, such as making changes to course topics, collecting information for course decisions, or to get input on particular topics that have been covered. Instructors may not use the data you provide for research purposes without first obtaining your consent.

WARNING:
By default, survey responses are not anonymous. If a survey is anonymous, a small textbox will display above the questions that says ‘This survey is anonymous. Your name is not linked to your response.’

To take a survey

  1. Log in to Brightspace with your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course under My Courses or the course selector grid
  3. Click Content in the course Navbar.
  4. Click the module in the left-side menu.
  5. Click the survey.
  6. Complete the survey questions. Questions may be multiple choice, short answer, true/false or a range of other formats depending on how your instructor has set it up. Required questions will be indicated with an asterisk. If there are multiple pages in the survey, use the Previous Page and Next Page arrows to navigate through the various pages of the survey.
  7. When you have completed all the questions, click Submit Survey.
  8. Click Yes on the pop-up confirming you are ready to submit.
NOTE: If you have unanswered questions, they will appear on a Confirm Survey Submission page under a warning heading. Click on the blue question title to complete the question(s). When you are finished, click Submit Survey.

The survey is now complete and the results will be available to your instructor. Depending on the settings of the survey, you may or may not be able to make additional survey submissions.
