Research: Using a combination of methodological approaches from single muscle fibres to whole human investigations, a focus of our research is to understand the role of oxidative stress as mediators of skeletal muscle weakness and exercise-induced fatigue. We also have a great interest in understanding how reactive oxygen and nitrogen species may act as triggers to induce chronic exercise training adaptations, as well as an interest in examining the potential therapeutic application of prooxidants and antioxidants to treat muscle weakness and fatigue.
