Research: Dr. Perry investigates mitochondrial function during high-intensity aerobic exercise. He examines the control of mitochondrial respiration, mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant capacity during exercise in human skeletal muscle. His work focuses on the regulation of metabolic control (glucose/fatty acid uptake and catabolism), through redox biology, in response to specific dietary and exercise interventions integrating mitochondrial, cytosolic and nuclear intercommunication.
