Research: Dr. Josephy investigates enzymes involved in xenobiotic metabolism, especially the human cytochromes P450 and the enzymes catalyzing glutathione conjugation and the processing of glutathione conjugates into mercapturic acids. His research focuses on their mechanisms of catalytic activity and substrate specificity as well as the functional effects of “SNPs” (single-nucleotide polymorphisms) in xenobiotic metabolism enzymes.
