Professional Development Fund for Women in Engineering and IT
Overview
The Women in Engineering and IT Professional Development Fund is available for application by women students who are currently enrolled in a Carleton University engineering or information technology undergraduate, master’s or doctoral program. We are committed to supporting women of all backgrounds, intersecting identities and experiences, including racialized women, women with disabilities, Indigenous women, etc., and encourage them to apply to this fund. This fund was made possible through our partnerships with industry and government organizations participating in the Women in Engineering and IT Program.
The purpose of this fund is to support women students to enhance their skills and professional networks. This funding can help women students attend conferences, workshops, seminars and other professional development events. Preference will be given for activities with a women in STEM or EDI focus. If this is a research-based activity, students must be prepared to demonstrate that they were unable to secure funds from their graduate supervisor(s). Funding requests may include activities, registration fees, accommodations, etc.
Applicants can request funding once per academic year (September-August). Funds will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The decision-making committee will attempt to prioritize funding requests that benefit as many women students as possible, and in compliance with Carleton University policies. Preference will be given to Women in Engineering and IT Program participants. Each submission can include a request for up to $2,000 CAD. The funds will be reimbursed after the professional development activity with proof of receipts.
Please complete and submit this request at least three weeks in advance for a decision. The decision is made by the Office of Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Design. In case of questions, please contact WIE@cunet.carleton.ca.
