Guaranteed Admission into a Master’s Program
Carleton Engineering and Information Technology (IMD, NET) undergraduate students who maintain a high GPA may be eligible for guaranteed admission into select Master’s programs. Early in the winter term, eligible students will be contacted by the Faculty of Engineering and Design (FED) through their CMAIL account with information about this offer, and a list of graduate programs for which they are eligible.
Upon receiving their notice of eligibility, students interested in pursuing next steps must submit an application using the Carleton 360 application process.
Below is a list of eligible graduate programs and the GPA requirement to qualify for acceptance.

*Presently, the guaranteed admissions offer does not apply to Master of Engineering (MEng) programs in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, however MASc programs are eligible.
Master’s Students may be eligible for funding and scholarships, especially those applying for thesis-based degrees. This funding may include Teaching Assistantships (TAs), scholarships, and Research Assistantships (RAs). RAs are at the discretion of the faculty member who supervises your research in a thesis-based degree. All other funding decisions are made at the departmental/school level. All applicants are automatically considered for funding and decisions are based on academic merit.
Accelerated Pathway
Through Accelerated Pathways, it’s possible to complete a Master’s program in less time. Undergraduate students with a high GPA can replace up to 2 of their fourth-year electives with graduate-level courses which can be double-counted towards their Master’s program. This will reduce the number of courses required to complete your Master’s program and may reduce your total tuition costs.
