COPE – Minimum Requirements

Effective May 1, 2026, for Engineering Change of Program Elements (COPE) requests for the 202630-calendar year.

The tables below include the minimum requirements for Engineering COPE requests to be considered by each department. Please review these important notes before submitting a COPE request:

COPE request approvals are never guaranteed; consideration is given to requests that meet minimum requirements, subject to space availability in the requested program. Updates to these requirements may be made throughout the academic year.
We strongly suggest running a “what-if” audit in your requested program to check (i) year standing, (ii) Overall CGPA, and (iii) Courses in Excess at the bottom of the audit.
- When running a what-if audit for a request being submitted May 2026 – April 1, 2027 please use 202630 (catalog year) – this will ensure that you are viewing the correct version of a new program audit.
These minimum requirements apply only to students already enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program. Students from other degree programs must contact admissions@carleton.ca to apply for admission to BENG as an internal transfer student.
