Description: Break the ice by meeting other off-campus students and learn about all the resources and support services available to you!

Description: Students living off-campus will eat in the Nideyinan Food Court and students living in Residence will eat in the Residence Cafeteria.

Playfair Canada
8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Description: Playfair is totally unlike anything else you’ve ever experienced. It’s entertainment! It’s fun! It’s the perfect way to make new campus friendships! Playfair is a team-building experience that has a long-lasting effect on the members of your campus community. Playfair is more than just a “performance” — it’s an “experience” where everyone can participate!

Glow Dance Party

Description: Light it up! Hit the dance floor to some of the top songs of summer along with your favourite throwback jams. This event is part of the Centralized Fall Orientation schedule. With EngFrosh participants also welcome to attend, its the perfect opportunity to meet fellow Ravens of all programs and faculties!

Opening Ceremonies
10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Description: Wake UP! This is your official welcome to Carleton University and the perfect kick-start to the week ahead! Here you will get a chance to meet your Orientation Coordinators once again, while hearing from a few special guest speakers. The event will wrap up with all students heading out to their student success presentations.

Student Success Presentations
10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Description: Join your group in various classrooms around campus where you will gain valuable tips from student leaders on how to best succeed in your first year of university!

The Amazing Science Race!
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 PM
Description: Team up and race around campus with your fellow science students! Get to know campus locations and resources specific to Science students through a variety of challenges, riddles, and mini-games. The first team to finish wins!!

Lunch

Description: Grab a seat and enjoy some lunch while interacting with your fellow incoming Ravens and newfound friends. Fall Orientation volunteers will bring groups to either the Nideyinan Food Court or Residence Cafeteria.

Canal Games
12:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Description: Which Fall Orientation team will reign supreme? Get ready for an action-packed day of friendly competition with larger-than-life interactive activities! Bringing back a past Fall O favourite, all Frosh teams will go head-to-head in a variety of outdoor games and activities along the beautiful Rideau Canal — make sure to bring your ’A’ game for this one!

Recommended items to bring: A water bottle*Please note we will be offering ParaTranspo service to and from the Hartwell Locks for any students who require assistance. The shuttle pick up location is right outside the Carleton University Bookstore located on the first floor of Nideyinan. Shuttles will run from 12:45 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Dinner

Description: Grab a seat and enjoy some dinner while interacting with your new friends. Students living off-campus will eat in the Nideyinan Food Court and students living in Residence will eat in the Residence Cafeteria.

Rick Cole – Hypnotist
8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Description: Join Rick Cole as he brings his hypnotist show to Carleton. You’ll be amazed at how much he knows, what he can have willing participants say or do, and what he can make suddenly appear. Fall under Rick’s spell as he hypnotizes your classmates and maybe even you too!

Science Self Care Night!

What is it: This one is just for all the Science Students out there! Come and meet your fellow SciFrosh students and participate in plant care, beading and slime making! This event will run until 11:00 PM.9:00 PM

What is it: Your chance to play a true throwback game and win EPIC prizes such as Kindle e-readers, Beats headphones, Campus Card top-ups and MORE! Join your hosts, the Campus Activity Board, who host this event monthly!9:00 PM

What is it: Immerse yourself in interactive zones designed to showcase CUSA’s Service Centres unique offerings. Join fellow students for a variety of captivating activities, including: Taste your Rainbow, Wall of Mirrors, Paint your Flag, Beyond the Frames Exhibition, Medicine Bag Making Workshop, Cultural Euphoria, Zumba* and more.

Pride Spotify Mix and Mingle

What is it: The SEO Pride team presents the Pride Spotify Party; a fun and interactive event where 2SLGBTQ+ students and allies can mix and mingle while enjoying music, including songs they choose. Are you in the Linguistics, Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies, or Modern Languages program? Or are you interested in languages or linguistics? Join us for a Jeopardy-style game with trivia questions about general language/linguistics knowledge and information about the various programs at Carleton. Hosted by the Carleton Applied and Theoretical Linguistics Society (CATL), this is a fun opportunity to make new friends with similar interests! Students from all programs are welcome.9:15 PM

What is it: It’s like speed dating, but for friendships! You’ll have a great time breaking the ice and making new connections. With speed mingling, you can meet many new people in a short amount of time, making it rapid way to expand your social circle.

Academic Orientation Day
8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Description: There’s a lot to do this week. Between finding out where your classes are, meeting your Fall Orientation group and learning all about university life, things can get a little crazy! Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Academic Orientation Day is designed to make sure that you know everything about your Faculty and Department here at Carleton. At today’s event, you’ll receive a faculty specific t-shirt, meet fellow classmates and professors, and find out more about your degree and program requirements. This is a fun day packed full of information to help you to start your program off on the right foot! More information about Academic Orientation Day is available on its dedicated website.

Expo Carleton

Description: Want to get involved in the Carleton community but don’t know where to start? Want to know what the Carleton campus has to offer you? This is the event for you! Expo Carleton showcases all the Carleton clubs, societies and services and gives you the opportunity to walk around for the ones that fit your taste buds. Getting involved during your first year can make the transition to university life much smoother.
Location: Fieldhouse (Athletics)*Please note that Expo Carleton runs from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m; students are encouraged to attend once they have completed Academic Orientation Day programming and lunch.
Let’s CU Chill – Board Games
4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Description: Drop in and play some awesome board games with peers or just come by to check out the new EIC quiet space that’s open to students throughout the year, equipped with a library of books and other self-care items. There will be lots of games to choose from but feel free to bring your favourites along too! This event is open to all students and light refreshments will be available.

Lab Coat and Science Shirt Design Day
2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m
Description: Don’t have a lab coat yet? Already have a lab coat? In a program that doesn’t require a lab coat? Come one, come all to the Frosh lab coat design event. Brought to you by the Science Student Success Centre, bring a basic lab coat and leave with one that will be of envy to all your lab mates. Fabric markers, spray paint, science stencils and tie dye kits will be provided so that you can add pictures and logos onto your lab coat and get creative! If you don’t need a lab coat, no problem, create your very own Free SciFrosh shirt and grab some science stickers to decorate your laptop.

CU @ the Coffee House

Description: Enjoy some live music and poetry presented by your fellow Ravens. This open-mic style event will let you see just how creative and talented our students can be when they take the coffee house stage.Location: Rooster’s Coffee House – Nideyinan (University Centre)
Prehistoric Pictures: Jurassic World

Description: SciFrosh invites all students to a screening of Jurassic World. Join us for a throwback flick, popcorn and candy!

Carleton U Esports Gaming Night

Description: If you’re someone who puts the ‘E’ in Esports, then get yourself logged in and ready to play in Tespa Carleton’s Fall Orientation game night! Description: Fall Orientation has partnered with several local establishments across Ottawa; this is your opportunity to discover the city while visiting some local Ottawa institutions.
Participants are encouraged to use their U-Pass to visit various locations across the city; at each location the Student Experience Office Staff in Red Polos will be able to give you your voucher to redeem.*Vouchers will only be distributed to registered Fall Orientation and Upper Year Orientation participants who are physically wearing their Orientation bracelet and the event runs while quantities last.
