Central Heating Plant
Carleton University’s Central Heating Plant is a First Class steam generating facility. Steam generated is used for heating, hot water generation and space humidification purposes.
Emergency Generators
There are two diesel-generator units in the Central Heating Plant arranged to provide an alternative energy source to specific campus areas when the electrical supply is interrupted. Under hydro failure conditions the units automatically start and carry the load, then 5 minutes after normal supply returns the units shut down ready for the next hydro interruption.
