Steam Drums
In accordance with the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Code, the upper or the steam drums of the steam generators are fusion welded, stress relieved and X-rayed. The steam drums contain two manholes for ready access to the interior and inspection. External steam drum connections provided are as follows:

- 1 Main steam connection
- 1 Auxiliary steam connection
- 2 Safety valve connections
- 1 Continuous blowdown connection
- 1 Surface blowdown connection
- 2 Water column connections
- 1 Feedwater connection
- 1 Chemical feed connection
The lower or the water drums are made of seamless steel pipes. Access to the lower water drums is by means of two manholes on both sides of the boilers. Bottom blow connection is provided in the drum for sludge removal and for draining the unit.
