Utility Metering

Carleton University has a utility metering system installed in all campus buildings.

The utilities measured are: Electricity, Natural Gas, Steam, Heating Hot Water, Chilled Water and Domestic Water.

Purpose

The purpose of the metering system is to track the energy performance of each building. This allows us to measure energy savings when an energy saving retrofit has been implemented or to look for unusual energy use patterns resulting from malfunctioning equipment (broken pipes, malfunctioning valves or dampers).
