November saw the completion of the Oracle 11g upgrade to the Banner and FAST applications.
The project involved numerous individuals both in ITS and in the various functional areas of Carleton. The end users completed very extensive regression testing preceding the upgrade and extensive verification activities once the upgrade was completed.
The smooth implementation was a direct result of significant attention to details required to plan, prepare for and execute the upgrade. Approximately 45 individuals (ITS and non-CCS) participated in the activities during the upgrade weekend. The lion’s share of the technical work was completed by the DBA’s and the other members of the Technical Support group within Application Development.
Banner and related services are used by all staff, faculty and students.
