There are over 285 people working on Carleton CMS (content management system) websites across campus. Web Services supports these individuals with one on one training, Service Desk support, a complete online training repository consisting of video tutorial, online documentation and blogs, and now a twitter account.

The online training manual documents a variety of CMS tasks and in July 50 people visited the documentation (source: Google Analytics). The CMS Video tutorials are two minute clips walking through various procedures, such as attaching a PDF, adding images and working with news stories. The videos are created using screencasting software called Screenflow. The weekly CMS blog spotlights key Google Analytic and SEO strategies targeted to help CMS clients generate visitor traffic to their Carleton website. The training manual, video tutorials and blogs are all accessible from within the CMS – this means once a user is logged in they can access tutorials directly from where they make edits to their website.

The new Web Services’ twitter account (@CUWeb) will communicate new features, CMS website updates, WordPress news, new site launches and more.
