Not only did the Network Services team keep the network up and running, but they made significant enhancements, improvements and additions to various aspects of the complex framework we have at Carleton.
Network Enhancements
- Celebrated the shut down of the legacy network as they moved the last of departmental servers and networks off the old network.
- Completed network infrastructure upgrades in Grenville Russell: upgraded the wiring and the network equipment. This is the first residence building that has been introduced to Carleton’s enterprise Wireless infrastructure.
- Completed IT/network infrastructure for the Canal building. This includes infrastructure for the Modern BAS system running over IP.
- Provided additional network capacity to support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) in Azrieli, Tory Mackenzie, Minto Case, and Glengarry Buildings.
New Data Hosting Service Level Agreements
- Moved Pearson Peace keepers connectivity over to Carleton’s network infrastructure and set up a comprehensive Service Level Agreement (SLA) for ongoing support.
Connectivity Improvements
- Improved connectivity for BIT render Farm on the 4th floor Azrieli by moving to gigabit network (both switch and uplinks).
- Increased Internet Bandwidth through the Cogent ISP from 300MB to 600MB.
Additional Network Support and Services
- Provided additional network support and services for NWRC.
- Provided additional bandwidth and upgraded firewall.
- Provided better management of internet traffic and security.
