Carleton is conducting a campus-wide test of Carleton’s Emergency Notification System (ENS) on Tuesday, January 31.
The ENS allows Carleton’s Department of University Safety to contact a mass number of people in the event of a campus-wide emergency that requires action by members of the Carleton community. It uses three forms of communication to deliver instructional messages should an emergency occur:
- a computer lockout system,
- emails sent to @Connect and @Carleton.ca accounts, and
- cellphone texts (you must register for this free service via Carleton Central).
Please note: ENS alerts are automatically sent to desktop computers on campus and @Connect and @Carleton.ca email accounts.
In order to receive the alerts by text message, you must register your cellphone number. To register, please log onto Carleton Central. Once you are in the main menu, go to “Campus Alerts.” When you first register, you must respond to a welcome text message that will come from 30000035. The reply is: JOIN CUTXT.
IMPORTANT: If you don’t respond to the welcome message, the system will consider you “not registered” and you will not receive ENS alerts.
