We are pleased to announce that we are changing our name from Computing and Communications Services (CCS) to Information Technology Services (ITS), effective December 15, 2016.
We are changing our name for three key reasons:
- ITS is recognizable. The acronym CCS is not intuitive, particularly to new students, staff, and faculty on campus. ITS is a name that people will recognize and understand.
- ITS is relevant. Our business consists of more than computers and communications services. The name Information Technology Services better reflects our mission to provide enterprise information technology solutions and services to support the learning, teaching, research, and administrative goals of Carleton University.
- ITS is modern. CCS was once a popular name for university IT departments. We did a scan of Canadian universities and the name CCS is now only being used by two other universities. The majority of IT departments have gone with Information Technology Services, or simply Information Technology.
Our new website address will be carleton.ca/its and along with this change comes the launch of a new online Help Centre.
It is also important to note that we will have a new Service Desk email: ITS.service.desk@carleton.ca, however, during the transition emails sent to ccs.service.desk@carleton.ca will be forwarded to the Service Desk.
We have a lot of work to do before and after the name change. If you have any questions or comments, please get in touch with us via the form below.
