This January, Carleton students will begin receiving safe and simulated phishing emails, automatically generated by our systems, to help them better recognize what a phishing email might look like. These emails will be modelled after real-life emails that have arrived in Carleton email inboxes in the past. If a student clicks on a link in the email, they will be taken to an informational page outlining ways to stay safe online. This page will be hosted on a Carleton site and will encourage students to sign up for our Security Awareness Course, available here.
Students, including those who click on links in the simulated phishing emails, are not being evaluated as part of this initiative. This initiative is for informational and education purposes only, and students who click on simulated phishing links will only be encouraged to learn more about how to stay safe online.
