A new version of Microsoft Teams was released by Microsoft on March 31, 2024.
Microsoft has indicated that all users of the “classic Teams” app will be automatically prompted to switch to the “new Teams” app on that date. The new interface is very similar, but the app is expected to run much faster while providing a more simplified and streamlined experience.

ITS and a select number of users have validated the new Teams app.
What Will You Need to Do?
If you are prompted to use the “new Teams” app in a banner notification at the top of the app, please click “switch now”. The new Teams app will be installed, and you will be moved from the classic Teams app to the new Teams app. Your classic Teams app will be automatically deleted from your device after a period of 14 days.
If you previously switched to the new Teams app, there will be no impact and nothing for you to do.
What Should You Do If You Encounter Problems When Switching?
If you attempt to switch to the new Teams app and run into problems, the classic Teams app will work until June 30, 2024 and you can continue to use it until then. If you experience this, we strongly urge you to contact the ITS Service Desk before June 30 so we can help onboard you to the new Teams app. After June 30, the classic Teams app will no longer work.
