ITS has made infrastructure changes that have given the university a proactive stance against climate change and its impact on technology, as well as power disruption from other sources. Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS) upgrades in both the Pigiarvik (PKDC) and MacOdrum Library (MLDC) data centers provide backup power and minimize service disruptions.

A revamped virtualization environment lets us seamlessly switch services between data centres in case of emergencies.

For its efforts, ITS was named as a finalist for a 2024 CUCCIO Award in June and was recognized among peer institutions during the CANHEIT conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“Carleton’s commitment to a robust and adaptable IT infrastructure makes them a true leader in higher education,” read the text of the nomination. “They’re not just keeping the lights on – they’re building a brighter future for technology at Carleton!”
