ITS has made infrastructure changes that gives the university a proactive stance against increasingly volatile weather events, as well as power disruption from other sources. Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) upgrades in both the Pigiarvik (PKDC) and MacOdrum Library (MLDC) data centres provide backup power and minimize service disruptions.

In a win for business continuity, a revamped virtualization environment lets us seamlessly switch services between data centres during emergencies, ensuring that critical institutional services and data is maintained.

Recognition from Peer Institutions

For its efforts, ITS was named as a finalist for a 2024 CUCCIO Award in June and was recognized among peer institutions during the CANHEIT conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“Carleton’s commitment to a robust and adaptable IT infrastructure makes them a true leader in higher education,” read the text of the nomination. “They’re not just keeping the lights on – they’re building a brighter future for technology at Carleton!”
