MacOdrum Library Data Centre Hardware Upgrades

On Friday, August 11, Information Technology Services (ITS) will begin an upgrade to the MacOdrum Library Data Centre (MLDC) that will play a pivotal role in our Disaster Recovery strategy while further protecting the university’s data and information infrastructure.
Following power disruptions to Carleton University in June 2023 relating to instability at the electrical substation on Bronson Avenue, ITS is moving forward with a project to provide a second layer of electrical redundancy and complete a renovation project to expand MLDC’s footprint, enabling increased server capacity.
Though we have worked to mitigate disruption to the Carleton community, unfortunately this maintenance will require significant outages. While the Library website and proxy server will remain online, clients will be unable to access the following services starting at the following times:
- VDI Services – 5:30 PM, August 11
- repository.library.carleton.ca (Carleton University Institutional Repository) – 7:00 AM, August 12
- archie.library.carleton.ca (Archives and Special Collections’ archival collections catalogue) – 7:00 AM, August 12
- sign.library.carleton.ca (GIS dataset access) – 7:00 AM, August 12
- Some Library-hosted online resources accessed through Omni – 7:00 AM, August 12
- Some Library email aliases (specifically those ending with @library.carleton.ca) – 7:00 AM, August 12
- corparch.library.carleton.ca (Carleton Corporate Archives database) – 7:00 AM, August 12
- Some AVRC (Audio-Visual Resource Centre) online resources – 7:00 AM, August 12
- lprc.library.carleton.ca (The Landon Pearson Resource Collection) – 7:00 AM, August 12
Full service will be restored by 8:00PM Saturday August 12th.
