Professor James Allan, of the University of Queensland School of Law in Australia, returns on Friday, September 20th for a new lecture in the JurisTalks Seminar series, co-sponsored by the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs and the Department of Law and Legal Studies.

His talk entitled, ‘Just a Spoonful of Charter Helps the Policy Go Down’, will consider how Canada’s Charter of Rights influences the shaping of public policy in Canada, with a comparison of Canada to Australia, where there is no national Bill of Rights. Professor Allan will argue that the Charter is, on the whole, a negative influence.
