Linda Gunning

GDCR Instructor

As an Insight Mediator/Coach and as a Marriage Preparation Facilitator with a background of 30+ years in teaching, community development and social services, Linda Gunning has become skilled at working with people creatively while pragmatically assessing organizational and administrative needs. Her work achievements are underlined by her positive attitude and sense of humour combined with her attention to detail without losing sight of a larger vision.

In the past 10 years Linda has played a very active role in the Conflict Resolution Program:

  • Coordinator of Carleton University’s Conflict Resolution Skills’ Assessment course (Laws 5709) for the past  two years
  • A successful senior mediation coach with nine years’ experience in the Carleton Coaches Program
  • A resourceful and innovative Coordinator of the Conflict Resolution Coaches’ Program for three years
  • Presented at two Conflict Resolution Symposiums

In addition, Linda is a certified “Foccus” Facilitator preparing engaged couples for marriage and recently helping young married couples work through marriage difficulties using Insight Mediation.

This academic year – 2013-14 – Linda will be developing new ways to support students in Laws 5709 as they prepare for their Skills Assessment. She has developed study session days that, it is hoped, will lessen the gap between the program’s theoretical learning and mediation practice.
