Happy news!  Our recruitment process earlier this this year was successful, and we are pleased to announce that Kyla Bruff will be joining our department on August 1st of this year!

Kyla is a specialist of German and French 19th and 20th century philosophy. Having her with us will allow the department to offer a variety of exciting new courses and seminars. Just to give you an example, she will be teaching our brand-new course ‘Wellbeing, Happiness, and the Good Life’ as well as a seminar on ‘Freedom from Schelling to modern Existentialism’ next year, in addition to teaching our 19th Century Philosophy course.

Having Kyla with us also opens a variety of new opportunities for graduate supervision. She will be delighted to supervise research on German idealism, the Frankfurt School, Nietzsche, Foucault, Sartre, De Beauvoir among many other possibilities. She has a special interest for political philosophy and is an engaged feminist as well as an environmental activist. Those of you who value socially engaged philosophy should not be disappointed. Feel free to have a look at her blog, there’s great stuff there!
