Dear members of the Carleton Philosophy community,

The Department of Philosophy is pleased to announce the introduction of our very own Communications Team. Annie Larivée, Rima Sanaallah, and Lauren Wells-McGregor have been taking the lead on our communications efforts, along with our newly hired Communications Assistant and MA student, Ian MacLean-Evans. Ian has taken the lead on social media, and he will be assisting with our upcoming communications initiatives. Kyla Bruff will be joining the team this summer.

So far, we have been working on enhancing our social media presence on Twitter and Facebook, and we are in the process of making significant changes to our website. We will be focusing heavily on recruitment, ensuring that our platforms are all up to date and are enticing to prospective students. This will include additional recruitment efforts, such as filming a virtual tour of our spaces to publish online. We also started publishing frequent news articles to highlight the accomplishments of our community members. If you have anything you would like to share, please visit our website to fill out our submission form.

In the coming months, we plan to introduce a Philosophy Newsletter, which we aim to distribute 3-4 times a year. This will include news information (such as research accomplishments, upcoming events, and spotlight articles) as well as important dates and deadlines. Any newsletter submissions can be made through our submission form, or sent by email to Lauren.

We will also be conducting monthly interviews as part of a new “Community Spotlight” series. This will feature members of our community to highlight their accomplishments and projects, or to describe different aspects of the life of our department. Don’t miss the first one, coming up soon, on new faculty Kyla Bruff!  If you have an interest in being featured for an upcoming spotlight, feel free to reach out to Ian.

This is an exciting time for the Department of Philosophy, and we hope you will join us in actively becoming part of the conversation! We will have a giveaway contest starting very soon, so follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay tuned for your chance to win. In the meantime, if you have anything to share we would greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

The Communications Team
