Are you ready for September?
Some tips to help you to prepare for back-to-school.
Review Your Course Outlines and Delivery Format
Check your course schedule and course outlines as they become available in Brightspace:
- Verify course-delivery formats (are online or in-person?) and prepare yourself for their requirements.
- Verify classroom locations. Take an opportunity to come to campus ahead of semester-start to orient yourself if needed.
- Once the semester begins, select the accommodations that apply to each course through your Ventus portal.
Request Alternative Formats
- If have already been referred to Alternate Formats at Library Accessibility Services, review readings and course requirements and request your alternate formats before or early in the term.
- If you think you could benefit from Alternate formats for your course readings, please contact your PMC Coordinator.
Manage your U-Pass
- If you received your Campus Card/U-Pass after July 1, 2024 and you are enrolled in at least 1.5 each term term, U-Pass will be activated automatically the first time you use it on transit in the fall pass period which begins September 1, 2025.
- If you received your Campus Card/U-Pass prior to July 1, 2024, and have not yet added the transit application, your first step to accessing the transit system will be to download the new transit application to your Campus Card. This can be done in-person at the Campus Card Office in room 407 Nideyinàn during office hours Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- If you are a new student and do not have your Campus Card or U-Pass yet, please follow the steps outlined on the Campus Card webpage to request your combined Campus Card and U-Pass.
- For more information about managing your U-Pass, visit the Manage your U-Pass webpage.
Manage your CUSA Health & Dental Plan
Undergraduate students taking 2.0 credits per term (or more) are automatically enrolled in the CUSA Health & Dental Plans.
- If you’re already covered by an equivalent health and/or dental plan (such as a parent or spouse’s employee benefit plan), you can opt out during the Change-of-Coverage Period (September 5 – October 3, 2025) and receive a credit to your student account for the amount of the Plan.
Undergraduate students enrolled in less than 2.0 credits per term are NOT automatically enrolled in the CUSA Health & Dental Plan.
- The deadline to self-enroll in CUSA Health & Dental Plan is between September 5 – October 3, 2025 (for full-year coverage).
Check the Bookstore for Your Textbooks
The bookstore is now called The Campus Store and is now under the management of Carleton University. Check out their new renovated space with new merchandise on the first floor of Nideyinan.
- Check their website to see if your professors have submitted orders for your course textbooks.
Plan for Mental Health and Wellness Support
Fall transitions can be stressful. Look into:
- Counselling services or peer support groups. Use the wellness navigator to help you find wellness services on campus.
- Quiet spaces or sensory-friendly zones on campus
- Crisis support or mental health hotlines
Carleton has a wide range of wellness services and programming. Visit the mental health and well-being website to find out more.
