The Department of Political Science invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track appointment specializing in Indigenous Politics in Canada at the rank of assistant or associate professor. This is an Indigenous-specific position. First Nations, Métis, and Inuit scholars are particularly welcome, but Indigenous scholars from any context are eligible to apply.
The position focuses on Indigenous politics and political systems, which may be approached from a range of perspectives, including Indigenous and decolonial philosophies, cultures, governance, social movements, resurgence, and subaltern histories. The areas of expertise of the successful candidate may include, for example: Indigenous-settler relations in Canadian state-building; Canada’s Indigenous policies and their legacies; truth and reconciliation; decolonialization; Canada-Indigenous treaties; public policy-making on issues relevant to Indigenous communities; Indigenous representation in and engagement with Canadian political institutions.
