“I am studying the changing and contested concept of electoral interference – ideas, rather than its practice. Starting from the infamous intervention in the 2016 US election, I’m tracking how the boundaries of what counts as illegitimate electoral interference have developed, with a focus on Canada and the US. I am also trying to capture what people – elites and publics – think a typical case of interference looks like.”
