“My research seeks to understand how issues of disability and health have been addressed in the development of global refugee resettlement policy, from 1951 to present. I am examining archival documents from the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) archives and interviewing people who have been involved in resettlement policymaking. I will use the framework of historical institutionalism to help understand why a certain approach to disability has persisted in resettlement policy over many decades and how aspects of the global refugee regime have contributed to policy stability.”
