We are pleased to announce that Gabriel Karenhoton Maracle will join our department on July 1 as a tenure-track Lecturer of Political Science, with a specialization in Indigenous Politics in Canada. The position will convert into an Assistant Professor position upon completion of his PhD.
Gabriel joins us from Trent University, where he is in the final stages of his PhD program. He has also worked as a policy analyst for the National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) here in Ottawa. He is a member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. Gabriel’s PhD research examines healing programs for Indigenous men both on and off-reserve, drawing on concepts of Haudenosaunee political thought. He has published on issues of Indigenous sovereignty and identity, as well as urban Indigenous governance. Gabriel is a great teacher and has extensive connections to Indigenous organizations and communities, in the Ottawa area and beyond. He will be a fantastic addition to the department.
Please join us in welcoming Gabriel as our newest faculty member in the Department of Political Science!
