“Model Senate 2023 was an honorable experience! I had the opportunity of serving as a Senator at the Red Chamber for the weekend.
I must start by saying it was an absolute honour for me to partake in this event representing Carleton University. As a person who is pursuing an honors degree in Political Science and International Relations, I will never forget the experience of stepping into a Senator’s role and participating in lively discussions with my fellow Senators.
I was given the role of Senators Statement where I was able to speak on diversity and inclusion; a topic that is near and dear to my heart. I had the opportunity to meet current senators and network with the best and brightest students throughout Canada. Everyone brought an incredible and insightful remarks to the table.
I would be remiss if I did not express my sincere gratitude to Senate of Canada | Sénat du Canada, SENgage team, and all those involved in the event planning.
All in all, Model Senate 2023 was an unforgettable experience, and I am grateful for all the memories I will take away from this event. More than anything, I am grateful to be enrolled in the Department of Political Science as they continue to encourage us to take part in exciting events like this.”
