Congratulations to Cassandra Szabo on her recent PhD thesis propsal defence!
Cassandra’s research is a comparative analysis between Canada and the United Kingdom and their respective responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. The research specifically focuses on mother’s and how governance decisions impacted mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research will look at how policies were created during the pandemic and if during the creation of those policies the potential adverse impacts on this specific segment of the population was considered. In comparing Canada and the United Kingdom there may be important institutional insights gained that impact how effectively policies are created. The goal of the research is to provide insight into how policy making can be done in a way which will factor in the diverse lived realities of a state’s population.
