My journey since graduation has been both rewarding and transformative. Shortly after earning my degree from Carleton, I am now working in the House of Commons, at the heart of Canada’s legislative process, applying the lessons I learned during my studies every day. I am humbled by the recognition received including the Canadian Platinum Jubilee Emblem, the Black History Ottawa Community Builder Award (2023), the Martin Luther King DreamKEEPER Youth-in-Service Award (2024), Jaku Konbit Youth Leadership Award (2024), ABLE Rising Star Award (2024), Global Community Alliance Community Builder Award (2024), It’s Time Events Community Leadership Award (2025), Bikila Awards Youth Community Impact Award (2025) and the Mayor of Ottawa formally designating me as one of several Heroes of Ottawa.
My experience at the political department provided me with a solid foundation in understanding governance and community dynamics, which has been instrumental in my career. The skills and knowledge I gained have empowered me to effectively engage with municipal, provincial, and federal stakeholders and make a meaningful impact in my community.
