Shortly after finishing my MA, I began working with Food, Health & Consumer Products of Canada, a national industry association representing the manufacturers of everyday grocery and pharmaceutical products. In my current role as Communications & Government Relations Specialist, I help communicate the messaging of the association to governments, stakeholders, and the public. From developing and maintaining a robust social media and online presence and media relations to communicating to elected officials and government departments both federally and across the provinces, my role allows me to get involved in a variety of projects that advocate for our members. These include leading in the creation of cross-platform campaigns on key issues for the food, health, and consumer product sector, supporting broader strategies during key periods like federal and provincial elections and budgetary cycles, and connecting with a variety of stakeholders across a range of sectors to find common priorities and establish effective collaborations.
Working firsthand in the world of political communications that I was able to research extensively during my time at Carleton has allowed me to apply the lessons and findings from that work critically and effectively to my day-to-day work and that has been, I believe, critical to my success.
