October 2012 Safety Tip – Bring a Lock and Lock Your Locker

The Campus Safety Services released their October safety tip today to remind the Carleton community of some valuable theft prevention tips.

Theft is a crime of opportunity which unfortunately occurs here at Carleton University. We would like to remind you, that when attending the athletics complex to work out or attending the Fresh Food Company to eat, that you should bring a lock and lock your locker.

This year, the Campus Safety Services and the Athletics Department have teamed up and installed several bait lockers in the male and female change rooms. Bait lockers are secured lockers with an audible alarm installed within.  If any of the lockers are forced open a signal is sent to our communications centre and activates an audible alarm. In the event that you hear an audible alarm, make contact with an athletics staff member or call us immediately by dialing 613-520-4444.

We cannot protect unattended or unsecured items so when attending areas on campus that have lockers, Bring a Lock and Lock Your Locker.
