Don’t let your home be a target this vacation season
Don’t let your home be a target this vacation season
June 14th 2013 – For Immediate Release
Your vacation is a time for fun and relaxation but is your home safe while you’re away? A home which is vacant or looks unoccupied is a perfect target for potential burglars.
The Campus Safety Services would like to remind everyone of some simple ways to keep their home safe while they’re away:
- Ensure all window and door locks work properly
- Double check that all access points to your home are secure before leaving
- Set several automatic timers on different lights and televisions
- Don’t announce your vacation on any answering machine messages
- Turn your home telephone ringer off or lower it
- Ask a neighbor or friend to check around your home throughout your vacation
- Cancel your newspaper delivery or have a friend / neighbor pick up mail and newspapers

Preparing your home before you leave will give you the peace and mind that you will return to a safe and secure home.
