Don’t let your home be a target this vacation season

Your vacation is a time for fun and relaxation but is your home safe while you’re away? A home which is vacant or looks unoccupied is a perfect target for potential burglars.

The Campus Safety Services would like to remind everyone of some simple ways to keep their home safe while they’re away:

Ensure all window and door locks work properly
Double check that all access points to your home are secure before leaving
Set several automatic timers on different lights and televisions
Don’t announce your vacation on any answering machine messages
Turn your home telephone ringer off or lower it
Ask a neighbor or friend to check around your home throughout your vacation
Cancel your newspaper delivery or have a friend / neighbor pick up mail and newspapers
