Carleton University researchers Jim Green and Rob Langlois are collaborating with CHEO to improve care for vulnerable newborns in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and during medical transport. Green’s team has created non-contact monitoring technologies, including a pressure-sensitive mat and imaging camera, to track vital signs without wires, enhancing comfort for babies and families. Langlois’s team is focused on reducing noise and vibration exposure during transport in ambulances and helicopters, improving safety and outcomes. These advancements aim to provide Canada’s smallest patients with better care and a healthier start in life. Read the full story here.
