Congratulations to Phillippe Forster on receiving the 2024 MROO Targeted Scholarship.

The Targeted Scholarship program, introduced by the Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario (MROO) in 2023, is designed to support graduate students in Ontario whose research or career goals are aimed at positively impacting the lives of seniors. The scholarship underscores MROO’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and aligns with its mission to advocate for and support this demographic.

In its second year, the Targeted Scholarship has been awarded to Phillippe Forster, a graduate student at Carleton University. Phillippe, hailing from Gatineau, Quebec, is in his first year of a Master of Applied Science in Computer Engineering. His thesis focuses on developing advanced at-home patient monitoring systems. These systems aim to reduce the need for hospital visits by monitoring vital health indicators such as ECG activity, blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, and stethoscope measurements. This innovative research, supported by Professor Bruce Wallace and the AGE-WELL National Innovation Hub, is geared towards enabling seniors to age in place more effectively.
