On teaching about the intersection between psychology and everyday life…“I really think this is the absolutely perfect role for me. I’m in love with psychology and all of its various manifestations. In particular I believe what is absolutely critical is that we take research and apply it. That we take what we know from all the really good, decent research that’s being done and figure out what it means in terms of real life. I think I’m good at finding that link between the basic research and how to apply it. Because, especially for undergrads, who are taking all kinds of courses, it’s sort of hard to understand where things fit, how these courses relate anything. So I like to think that pretty much through all my first year courses certainly, they’re constantly getting an explanation about ‘what does that mean for something that I encounter in my life daily?’ And I think that’s important.”
