Alyssa Laird

Postdoctoral Fellow and Teaching Assistant Coordinator

As the Postdoctoral Fellow and Teaching Assistant Coordinator, Alyssa Laird is responsible for appointing and onboarding postdocs, interpreting and administering the collective agreement for postdocs and teaching assistants, and participating in joint management-union meetings.

Alyssa joined Carleton University in 2019 where her current position was initiated within the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs. Before joining Carleton, Alyssa received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honours Legal Studies at the University of Waterloo. She also completed the Paralegal Graduate Certificate at Algonquin College and is now a licensed paralegal.

Alyssa’s past work experiences include working as a paralegal student with the legal services unit at Global Affairs Canada and working as an office manager at a Chartwell retirement residence.
