Request a Workplace Accommodation (TAs & CIs)

Centralized Accommodation System for TAs and CIs

Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Contract Instructors (CIs) represented by CUPE4600 (Unit 1 and 2) with a human rights need can request a workplace accommodation via the Centralized Accommodation System.

Once an accommodation request has been submitted, the university has a duty to inquire to assess an employee’s human rights needs while employee’s and the union have a duty to cooperate with the university’s accommodation process. Where a human rights need exists, the University is required to provide a reasonable accommodation up to the point of undue hardship. Please note that an employee is entitled to a reasonable accommodation and not necessarily their preferred or ideal accommodation.

Request a Workplace Accommodation

The Office of the Deputy Provost and Human Resources will consult with TAs and CIs and their immediate supervisors to identify a reasonable accommodation that meet an employee’s human rights needs.

The University is committed to ensuring a workplace environment that is accessible, inclusive, and free from discrimination. If you require an accommodation, please submit a completed form to the University:

TAs and CIs may consult their Union, CUPE4600 (Unit 1 or 2) to seek advice and counsel regarding accommodation requests by contacting them directly via email (info@cupe4600.ca). Please be advised that you have a right to union representation at meetings regarding accommodation requests.
