Registration Information and Resources

Time Tickets

Confirm your Time Ticket information to identify when you may start registering for your courses. Plan to register for both Fall and Winter terms when your Time Ticket opens. For more information about Time Tickets, visit – https://carleton.ca/registrar/registration/time-tickets/.

Year Standings and Prerequisites

Please note that the Department of Economics enforces all course prerequisites and program requirements as outlined in the Undergraduate Calendar.

If you have a concern regarding your year standing, including students registered in Summer courses, please contact the Registrar’s Office at registar@carleton.ca for their direction and information about how your year standing may affect your fall/winter registration Time Ticket.

Courses That Are Full

Students who meet the registration requirements for a course and find the course full when they attempt to register may have access to a waitlist feature on Carleton Central. For courses that do not have the waitlisting feature enabled, please monitor Carleton Central frequently throughout the registration period, to check for availability should a space become available as students add and drop courses.

If you require a course to graduate at the end of the term of registration, please plan to register in that course as soon as your Time Ticket opens. If you are unable to get a seat and are on the waitlist, please contact your Economic Advisors at economics@carleton.ca to bring your situation to their attention. Although access to a course cannot be guaranteed, our team will work with you to help you map out a pathway forward.

If You’re On A Waitlist

If on a waitlist, check your Carleton email regularly (at least once or twice per day) – if you are offered a seat from a waitlist, you will only have 24 hours to register in the course, before you lose the seat and it gets offered to the next person on the list.

For more information about waitlisting, including How-To Videos, please visit https://carleton.ca/registrar/registration/waitlisting/.

Registration Override Requests

Students seeking permission to register in a closed section of a course may submit a registration request via the Registration Override Request feature located on Carleton Central. Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee your registration in a course.

If you have non-Carleton equivalents for prerequisite courses, you may be required to provide supporting documentation (i.e. detailed transcripts for evaluation purposes). Please do not contact the departmental office or the instructor of the course for updates on the status of your request – an automatic response will be sent to your Carleton email with the status of your request.

Email Communication

The Department of Economics will only answer email requests from your Carleton email account. Any emails received from Yahoo, Gmail, or other email providers will be told to resend their email using their Carleton cu_people_email.
