Academic Success Resources for Eng. Students
Academic Content Support:
- Your professors and TAs – Taking advantage of professor and TA office hours is a great way to get individual support. If you can’t attend your professor and/or TA’s office hours, try emailing them with specific questions or ask if they can meet with you outside of their listed office hours.
- Elsie MacGill Learning Centre – Whether you have a quick question, want to review a solution, or just need a fresh explanation of content that was covered in class; our Engineering scholars are here to help with your first-year ECOR, math and science courses. New this year, we have added CIVE 2101, CIVE 2200, ELEC 2501, ELC 2507, MAAE 2300, MAAE 2400, SYSC 2004 and SYSC 2006 to the courses we support. EMLC services are free to students.
- Math Tutorial Centre (MTC) – The MTC at 3422 Herzberg Laboratories is a study space with TAs available to provide math support.
Learning Strategies Support:
- Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS) – CSAS offers one-on-one Learning Support and Writing Consultation sessions to help students improve valuable writing and learning skills.
- From Intention to Action (FITA) – FITA helps students to better manage stress and improve their academic performance by navigating the personal stressors that can often get in the way of school. Students meet one-on-one with their FITA Coordinator for 1 hour every week for 12 consecutive weeks.
- Science Student Success Centre – The SSSC at 3431 Herzberg Laboratories offers one-on-one and small group support to improve strategies for studying the sciences (e.g. CHEM, PHYS, BIOL, etc.)
